Bogorodica is the busiest border crossing between North Macedonia and Greece, on the E75/A1 motorway (Corridor 10), just a few kilometers from Gevgelija and about 65 km from Thessaloniki. It is known as Evzoni on the Greek side. The crossing operates 24 hours a day, and in summer it becomes the main gateway for diaspora travelers and tourists heading to Greek beaches — most of the seasonal traffic from Serbia and the region toward the Aegean passes through here. Greece belongs to the EU and the Schengen Area, but North Macedonia belongs to neither, so regardless of Greece's status, full passport and customs checks apply here for everyone crossing. When Bogorodica backs up, which is common in July and August, the alternative further west is Medžitlija/Niki, a smaller, quieter crossing south of Bitola that carries far less traffic. On the Greek side, the motorway continues on toward Thessaloniki and the Egnatia Odos, the main link to the rest of Greece.
