Deve Bair is a mountain border crossing between North Macedonia and Bulgaria, on the road that runs from Kumanovo through Kriva Palanka to the Bulgarian village of Gyueshevo — part of European route E871. On the Bulgarian side the road continues as the I-6 highway toward Kyustendil and on to Burgas on the Black Sea, while on the North Macedonian side it connects to the A2 motorway toward Kumanovo. Bulgaria has been a full Schengen member on its land borders since 1 January 2025, but that brings no less formality here — North Macedonia remains outside both the EU and Schengen, so documents and goods are checked here just as at any external EU border. Being a mountain crossing with lighter traffic, Deve Bair mostly carries local and regional traffic between eastern North Macedonia and southwestern Bulgaria, unlike the much busier Gradina crossing further north on the Serbia–Bulgaria border toward Sofia and Istanbul. Gyueshevo, on the Bulgarian side, is a small border village in the Kyustendil area.
