About the crossing

Končulj is an administrative crossing between central Serbia and Kosovo, on the road from Bujanovac toward Gnjilane, with a customs point that handles freight as well as passenger vehicles. Since late 2012, integrated border management has applied here — the Serbian and Kosovo checkpoints sit only a few meters apart, so documents and goods get checked once, rather than at two separate points as before. The same system was introduced the same day at the Brnjak crossing further north. Končulj is one of several administrative crossings along the boundary line with Kosovo — alongside Merdare, Jarinje and Brnjak — and unlike Merdare, which is mostly freight, traffic here is more mixed, both passenger and freight, since the road to Gnjilane is also used by residents of the border villages. There is no camera at this crossing, so current conditions can't be checked live the way they can at the larger ones. As with the other administrative crossings toward Kosovo, it's worth keeping in mind that hours and capacity can shift depending on the situation on the ground at any given time.
