Špiljani is a border crossing between Serbia and Montenegro near Tutin, opposite Dračenovac on the Montenegrin side. It operates 24 hours a day, but it's mainly used by passenger vehicles — this isn't a crossing that freight traffic relies on, unlike Gostun further north, which is the main corridor for trucks too. Tutin sits in the Raška District, in the hilly southwestern corner of Serbia, which makes Špiljani the natural choice for travelers from that area heading toward Berane and on into the interior of Montenegro, rather than detouring via Gostun or Jabuka. Because of the lighter traffic volume and its position off the main highway routes, queues here are less common than at the busier crossings further north, even during the summer season. That makes it a useful option for travelers from this part of the border who would rather take the more direct route through Tutin than drive out of their way through Prijepolje to reach Gostun.
