Since September 1, 2026, crossing Pavlović Bridge over the Drina has been free of charge — the concession granted in 1996 to "Drina River Bridž," the company owned by Semberija businessman Slobodan Pavlović, who built the bridge himself between 1991 and 1996 (before that, a ferry crossed the Drina here), has expired. After three decades of tolls, ownership and management of the bridge passed to Serbia, so everyone traveling between Mačva and the Semberija/Bijeljina area now crosses without paying anything. The crossing operates 24 hours a day and has separate lanes for passenger cars, buses and trucks, with freight traffic regularly using this bridge as a route to Bijeljina. Pavlović Bridge has thereby lost its status as the only tolled border crossing in the region, making it an even more practical choice for everyday travelers from Mačva who previously avoided paying to cross and now have no reason to pick a more distant crossing instead.
