Batrovci is the busiest border crossing between Serbia and Croatia, on the E70 motorway toward Bajakovo — the Serbian end of the A3 motorway that starts near Šid and runs to Belgrade, part of Pan-European Corridor X. The crossing operates 24 hours a day for both passenger cars and freight traffic, and during the summer travel season and holiday weekends it regularly sees the longest queues of any Serbia–Croatia crossing, as most tourist and truck traffic between Central Europe and the Balkans funnels through here. Bajakovo, on the Croatian side, sits about 300 km from Zagreb and roughly 120 km from Belgrade. Since Croatia joined the Schengen Area in January 2023, this is a full external Schengen border — once you are through passport and customs control, there are no further checks driving on into Hungary, Slovenia or Austria. When Batrovci backs up, Šid, not far away, offers a smaller alternative route on the old road toward Tovarnik, though it carries far less capacity than the motorway. On the Croatian side, the motorway continues as the tolled A3, so keep a card or cash ready for the toll booths beyond Bajakovo.
