Đala is a border crossing between Serbia and Hungary near Novi Kneževac. The Hungarian side of the crossing is Tiszasziget. It is open daily from 07:00 to 19:00 and takes passenger vehicles only — no freight. Unlike some of the smaller Vojvodina crossings, which are limited to citizens of the two neighboring countries, Đala is also open to citizens of the EU, Switzerland, Norway and Iceland, which makes it a genuine option for travelers heading further into the EU, not just local cross-border traffic. It sits well east of the Sombor–Subotica cluster of smaller crossings (Bački Breg, Bajmok, Bački Vinogradi), serving the Banat region around Novi Kneževac and Kikinda instead, with Szeged the nearest larger city on the Hungarian side. Hungary's Schengen membership since 2007 doesn't make crossing here any less formal — everyone's documents still get checked, it just means a wider range of nationalities is allowed to use this particular crossing than at the neighboring smaller ones. Hours can shift seasonally, so it is worth checking the current schedule before relying on it as a route.
