About the crossing

Izačić is a border crossing near Bihać, the main link between this part of Una-Sana Canton and Croatia — busier than nearby Užljebić, which serves as its smaller alternative. It runs along magistral road M-5, which continues at the border as Croatian state road D217 all the way to the village of Ličko Petrovo Selo, in the Plitvička Jezera municipality, Lika-Senj County — from there it's a short drive back to Bihać on the Bosnian side. For travelers coming from Bihać, this is the shortest way out toward Lika and on into inland Croatia. As with the rest of the Bosnia and Herzegovina–Croatia border, this has been a full external Schengen border since Croatia joined the Schengen Area in January 2023, so documents go through full checks for every traveler, regardless of nationality. Izačić itself was also a site of fighting during the war in the 1990s, but today it mainly serves everyday regional traffic between the Bihać area and neighboring Lika.
